SIAL 2018 Review

Sial 2018 Paris Food Fair, one of the largest and most comprehensive food exhibitions in the world, has been successfully completed every two years. 7020 companies from 109 countries participated in the four-day fair. More than 150 thousand people visited. While attending this important exhibition, APACK sales and marketing team took the pulse of both the French and European markets.

While attending this important exhibition, APACK sales and marketing team took the pulse of both the French and European markets.

Even though world trade is becoming increasingly integrated, there is quite a difference between the domestic market and the European market, as well as between the materials offered for sale and the consumers’ preferences. Companies that are aiming to open up to the world should also examine the dynamics of the european and international markets very well. APACK team returned with important observations regarding these points.

First of all, we have seen that the health factor has come to the fore in the field of food. Gluten-free, sugar-free, lactose-free products range has grown considerably. Besides, we have witnessed the effect of VEGAN nutrition model on food shelves, which is becoming more widespread in Europe. We have had the opportunity to examine examples of vegan models for animal products such as meatballs and sausages.

At Sial France, the richness of cheese derivatives particularly dazzled us. With thousands of varieties of cheese assortments in different types of packages, the delicatessen market has become quite colorful.

We also did not miss to visit the stand of Steriflow, for which we are the distributor in Turkey. We discussed the curent market dynamics with Mr Bole and Mr Dhiman, as the representatives of one of the largest manufacturers of autoclave machines in the world, Steriflow.

This year we can say that Turkey has landed in SIAL. As one of the main sponsors of the exhibition, represented by around 300 companies, it was one of the most powerful participants of the fair. 

In SIAL Paris, Turkey introduced milk and dairy products, meat products, confectionery products and chocolate, frozen ready food, canned goods, natural and organic products, food additives and ingredients, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, tea and coffee products, frozen seafood, vegetable oils, bakery foods and pastas, jams, honey, molasses and halva products, pulses, spices, nuts, sauces, fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, biscuits, olives and olive oil products, local products, fruit juice and fruit juice concentrate products, packed and prepared foods, baby foods and food production equipment and materials.

Apart from Turkey, Spain, China, France and Greece also took part in the exhibition with many companies. These countries hired large areas to market and promote their products range.
